J&LConsultants Linda Piper, Principal
J&L Consultants moved into the Upper Coastal Plain Business Development Center in January, 2011. As the management company for the North Carolina Licensed Child Care Association (NCLCCA), they are responsible for growing the organization which serves licensed child care providers across the state. NCLCCA was founded in 1996 and has experienced significant growth over the years. The goal for NCLCCA is to serve as a liaison between providers and the regulatory bodies such as the state licensing agency, the health department, lawmakers, etc. Linda Piper, Executive Director, and Tonya Tart, Executive Assistant, work in the BDC and also in the field calling on child care providers and hosting meetings across the state. The BDC location allows us to have an office to meet with child care industry representatives, legislators and members. Having an office in the BDC gives us a business location to receive mail and shipments and a receptionist to greet visitors. The use of technology and office equipment through the UCPBDC has allowed us to grow in membership and in services to providers without a disproportionate “growth” in business expenses! The flexibility in the BDC has been a huge asset to us, giving us the ability to work outside traditional business hours when necessary. During conference planning season, we have been able to spread out into an adjacent space within the BDC, on a temporary basis, which helped with our large scale conference preparation and accumulation of materials and decorations. We look forward to one day outgrowing our space here, but in the meantime we are grateful for the opportunities the UCPBDC has provided! 121 Nash St. W.
